Was born in 1963.
Studies Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the TU Chemnitz.
In 1990 started his career in the railway industry at the then AEG-Westinghouse as a design engineer and was responsible for vehicle projects at home and abroad.
From 1996 worked successfully for Adtranz in various positions in the Engineering and Technical Controlling departments and gave the decisive impetus for introducing the first low-floor trams in Japan.
From 1999 assumed technical leadership roles in Mannheim and Berlin.
In 2001 became the head of the Engineering Department in the Propulsion & Controls Division at Bombardier Transportation in Hennigsdorf and was responsible for the successful integration of the Adtranz organisational units into the Bombardier Group and for the strategic reorientation of the department to become a system partner.
Since 1 April 2005 has been the Managing Director of the German Railway Industry Association.
