News from EXPO 1520 Railway Fair participants
STAN Group will deliver a presentation at the Eighth International Conference “Railway Engineering. Prospects, Technologies, Priorities” (“Import Substitution. Prospects and Priorities” roundtable, September 3, Pavilion 5, Conference Hall 1) as part of the Fifth Anniversary International Fair of Railway Equipment and Technologies EXPO 1520 in Scherbinka.
STAN Group’s presentation will focus on the concept of Russian machine-tool engineering development amidst the import substitution of railway industry technological equipment. The key topics to be discussed at the conference will include the main aspects and issues for Russia’s leading machine-engineering companies as they operate under the new economic development model. STAN Group will also showcase the capabilities of domestic machine-tool engineering to meet the railway industry’s needs.
“Russia’s machine-tool engineering serves as a basis for the development of all machine-engineering industries, including railway engineering. Today, the railway industry can only function efficiently if modern and high-tech processing equipment is manufactured. Our machine tools have not only been successfully replacing foreign-made rivals, but also occasionally exceeding them in terms of technological capabilities, accuracy and reliability. Our main goal at present is to implement comprehensive solutions that would ensure modernisation of key domestic industrial sectors in particular and the nation’s systemic technology security in general,” STAN Group CEO Ruslan Zvyagintsev said.
Established at the end of 2012, STAN Group today is an industry leader with a more than 40% share of the domestic machine-tool engineering market. The company’s sales have been growing by more than 100% annually. According to the Machine Tool Scoreboard international survey, STAN Group is on track to become among the world’s top 50 largest machine-tool engineering company with an up to 2% share of the expected global market sales of metal processing equipment. STAN Group currently comprises five major Russian machine-tool engineering plants: NPO Stankostroyeniye (established from the Sterlitamak Machine-Tool Engineering Plant), Stankotekh located at the premises of the Kolomna Heavy Machine-Tool Engineering Plant, Ryazansky Stankozavod, Ivanovo Heavy Machine-Tool Engineering Plant, and Grinding Machine Tools. By bringing together the industry’s key players, STAN Group is well positioned to offer systemic solutions and meet up to 60–70% of the new equipment needs of Russian machine engineering, defense, and aerospace manufacturers that undergo technological retooling. The company’s immediate objectives include developing close cooperation among its production units and establishing an extremely powerful competence centre.
The Fifth International Rail Fair EXPO 1520 will be held at the VNIIZhT Experimental Ring in Sherbinka, Moscow, on 2-5 September 2015. It will be a venue for presenting advanced railway equipment and technologies manufactured by Russian and overseas railway engineering companies. National railway authorities in various CIS, European and Central Asian countries, operators and leasing companies, freight owners and carriers are the key customers of these products. Owing to the high standard of the Fair’s organisation, its unique character and scale in the 1520-gauge area, as well as active involvement of international companies, numerous high-ranking government officials, heads of railway ministries and CEOs of major European corporations visit the event as distinguished guests and delegates. In September 2013, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) acknowledged the international status and superior organisation of EXPO 1520.
