News from EXPO 1520 Railway Fair participants
The Moscow Metro will take part in the Fifth Anniversary International Fair of Railway Equipment and Technologies EXPO 1520 on September 2–5, 2015 in Scherbinka. The Moscow Metro has not only prepared a special interactive booth for the show, but has also organised the delivery of metro cars to the fair grounds by rail.
The booth will showcase newly introduced passenger services and the latest novelties designed to make riding the metro more comfortable. Visitors will learn about the outlook for the development of Moscow’s high-speed transport system in the coming years and will be able to ask questions of experts on hand. Everyone will have an opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a metro train driver by using an interactive simulator and to buy Moscow Metro memorabilia or the Troika and Ediniy metro tickets with an EXPO 1520 custom design.
Several metro cars have been delivered by rail to VNIIZhT’s Experimental Loop in Scherbinka specifically for the occasion.
The metro’s outdoor exhibition area will feature two cars of the very first A Series that inaugurated traffic on the first Moscow Metro line. The 1934 model year cars were carefully restored in time for the 80th anniversary of the Moscow Metro that was marked this year.
In addition, the outdoor area will feature two cars of the most popular Moscow Metro model – the 81-717 (“Nomernoi”). Both were overhauled and painted with the new Moscow Transport trademark color pattern that will grace the livery of all Moscow Metro cars in the next few years.
The fair will host the introduction of the Sinergiya-2 innovative diagnostic metro train. Presented by the Russian company Tvema, the Sinergiya-2 lab train rides all metro lines along with regular trains all day long. It is capable of running remote diagnostics to make sure tracks and tunnel devices are in working order and reporting the tiniest flaws in a timely manner.
The Mobility Support Centre for Moscow Metro Passengers staff will be on hand to assist mobility-challenged visitors to navigate the fair grounds free of charge throughout the EXPO 1520. You can book the service in advance by calling +7 (495) 622-73-41 or by visiting the Mobility Support Centre for Moscow Metro Passengers section of the official Moscow Metro website.
September 2 and 3 will be Specialists’ Days at the EXPO 1520. On Friday, September 4, the fair will open its doors to the public. On Saturday, September 5, the exhibition will feature not only business events but also an entertainment programme for adults and kids.

The Fifth International Rail Fair EXPO 1520 will be held at the VNIIZhT Experimental Ring in Sherbinka, Moscow, on 2-5 September 2015. It will be a venue for presenting advanced railway equipment and technologies manufactured by Russian and overseas railway engineering companies. National railway authorities in various CIS, European and Central Asian countries, operators and leasing companies, freight owners and carriers are the key customers of these products. Owing to the high standard of the Fair’s organisation, its unique character and scale in the 1520-gauge area, as well as active involvement of international companies, numerous high-ranking government officials, heads of railway ministries and CEOs of major European corporations visit the event as distinguished guests and delegates. In September 2013, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) acknowledged the international status and superior organisation of EXPO 1520.
