International Conference Railway Engineering: Partnership of the 1520 and 1435 Rail Gauge Manufacturers in Berlin

On September 21, Berlin hosted the IX International Conference Railway Engineering: Partnership of the 1520 and 1435 Rail Gauge Manufacturers. The event was held with the support and active participation of JSCo RZD during the international transport and logistics exhibition InnoTrans 2016. The event was organized by Business Dialogue Company.

A welcome address to the participants of the conference was made by Alexandr Morozov, Deputy Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, in which he thanked Russian engendering companies for the implementation of new technological projects in Russia and commented on the prospects of international cooperation. "Thanks to international projects implemented by the Russian Federation we can offer our customers products of a completely new technological level," Alexandr Morozov noted.

Business programme was opened with a plenary discussion Railway Engineering 1520 and 1435. Valintin Gapanovich, Senior Vice-President of RZD, made a talk on the implementation of the Complex Programme of the Innovative Development of RZD Holding to 2020. The Programme was developed in accordance with instructions received from the Government of the RF in furtherance of the RZD Innovative Development Programme to 2015. Dietrich Möller, President of Siemens Russia and Vice-President of Siemens AG, spoke of the expansion of a large-scale Railway Engineering 1520 and 1435 cooperation between Russian and major international companies. According to Dietrich Möller, Siemens strives to keep up with the new generation and will continue its product localization policy in Russia. Siemens is willing to provide new-generation trains Sapsan for a high speed rail-line Moscow-Kazan.

Locomovite Technologies Company is going to cut operational costs and unplanned repairs. As explained by Yuriy Degtyarev, First Deputy CEO of Locomotive Technologies, serious predictive analysis give the opportunity to make repairs not as scheduled, but as needed. "Thus we will significantly increase the uptime of locomotive fleet of JSCo RZD", Yuriy Degtyarev said.

Other participants of the discussion were Philippe Citroën, Director-General UNIFE (Association of the European Rail Industry), Philip Strajom, Director of Rail Transport Solutions Line of Ericsson, and Miroslav Haltuf, Chairman of Shift2Rail JU States Representatives Group.

The Conference was continued by the plenary discussion Smart Rail Transport on the implementation of information technology in the railway industry. The conference proved that innovative development programmes of JSCo RZD and EU railway administrations are sufficiently coordinated. In particular, the EU has adopted a roadmap for digital railways development. Russia develops similar projects, as well. A great contribution to this cooperation was made due to the digital platform of the International Union of Railways (UIC) with an active role of JSCo RZD.

It was also indicated that JSCo RZD has made a significant progress in developing Toporail technology, which allows GPS position determination of a digital way and integrating the data with information systems to control track machines. Other issues discussed were the development prospects of Railway Internet of Things (IoT) and digital security of rail transport.

Within the framework of the Conference, the winners of the 7th annual contest for best quality rolling stock and complex technical systems were awarded. The contest is organized by JSCo RZD to promote the conformity of rail products to the modern technical requirements, in-use reduction of life-cycle cost and improving product quality and reliability.

The first place in the category "Rolling Stock" was given to OOO PK Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant for EP20, two-system passenger electric locomotive. Second place was given to OOO Ural Locomotives for the electric train ES2G Lastochka. Third place winner was AO Firma TVEMA with its high-speed diagnostic vehicle Sprinter.

The first place in the category "Rolling stock and infrastructure components" was given to Knorr-Bremse 1520 LLC for the air brake control valve KAV60. Second place winner was AP NPK Uralvagonzavod with its bogie trucks 18-555 and 18-555-1 (type 2). Third place was given to AO Vyksa Steel Works for B-grade alloy steel all-rolled wheels of improved reliability.

The first place in the category "Diagnostic and control systems" was given to OAO ELTEZA (United Electrical Engineering Plants) and Bombardier Transportation (Signal) Ltd. for a complex system of enhance cyber protection. Second place winner was AO NPC INFOTRANS with an automotive multifunctional diagnostic laboratory based on diesel locomotive 2TE116. Third place was given to OAO NIIAS for a technical means complex for sensitive information transferring.

195 people from 14 countries participated in the discussion. Seven agreements and memorandums on cooperation were signed.
