EXPO 1520 to Host First Ever Dynamic Demonstration of Knyaz Vladimir Freight Locomotive
A dynamic demonstration of the International Fair of Railway Equipment and Technologies EXPO 1520 will for the first time present a dual-system (i.e. using both DC as AC) electric locomotive 2EV120 Knyaz Vladimir in motion.
The locomotive is unparalleled in Russia and capable of hauling heavy freight trains weighing seven to nine tons at temperatures ranging from -55°C to +45°C. It is designed to work on long railway sections (2000-3000 km) of CIS countries with the 1520 mm gauge.
Visitors to the Salon in Shcherbinka will have an opportunity to see a two-unit locomotive on the static display on railroad tracks (site 63/1).
2EV120 Knyaz Vladimir was designed by First Locomotive Company (FLC) together with Bombardier Transportation with the use of the European partner’s experience gained during design, manufacture and operation of freight locomotives of TRAXX ERP SYSTEMS family, including heavy main-line ore locomotives known as Kiruna. Locomotives are produced in the town of Engels, Saratov region.
The 6th International Fair of Railway Equipment and Technologies EXPO 1520 will be held on August 30 - September 2 on the territory of the Experimental Loop of JSC Russian Railway Research Institute (VNIIZhT) in Shcherbinka, Moscow. Five covered pavilions and 150 advanced full-scale specimens of rolling stock and infrastructure will be located on the exhibition area of 8,000 sq. m.
Besides, participants and specialists will have the opportunity to enjoy an extensive business programme. Within the framework of the International Conference Railway Engineering.
